The Night Before Your Wedding

You have spent so much time planning the DAY of your wedding, have you thought about how you are going to spend the EVE? Planning the night before your wedding can help foster a wedding day complete with relaxation and joy. Here are six tips on how to spend the night before your wedding.

Limit your alcohol consumption
The night before the big day is traditionally spent surrounded by your dearest family and friends at the rehearsal dinner. Remember that celebratory beer and champagne might seem like a good idea at the time, but will create untimely side effects. Stick to drinking water or limit yourself to one glass of wine or champagne--your skin and overall well-being will thank you for it!

Eat a well-balanced dinner
Eat an adequate and well-balanced dinner. Skipping the meal will only leave hunger pains and prevent you from a well-needed night of rest. Over-indulging will only leave you with that regretful feeling we all know too well. Stay away from pasta, spicy food and rich desserts. Instead, opt for dark leafy greens, brown rice, grilled chicken or fish. After all, we often feel as good as we eat.

Take a trip down memory lane
Could there be a better way to spend the night before two lives become one than by reflecting on all the moments that lead up to that moment? Look at pictures from your grandparents’ and parents’ weddings, baby pictures of each of you, captured moments you spent together and memories you have made. Reflect on how you met, your engagement and your journey to the altar.

Pamper yourself
If there is ever the moment to over-indulge in self-care, the eve of your wedding is it! Take a long bubble bath lit with candles, whip out those face masks, soak your hands and feet and lotion to your heart content. Tonight it is all about you, and spending a night of pampering will leave you feeling as beautiful as ever.

Bucket list
You can’t look back without looking forward, especially when your future is simply a sleep away. Make a list of all the things you wish to do, see, experience and achieve with your significant other. This list can serve as a great road map for your life together. With the stress of planning the wedding and amount of time spent on the details, it is nice to remember the real sentiment of the day that lies ahead of you.

Sleep!
Sounds so simple, right? It’s not. You will be full of excitement and could be left tossing in the sheets. Be prepared. Whether it is reading a book, listening to music or playing Words with Friends, find a way to clear your mind of bridesmaids, wedding cakes and dances, and relax. Spend some quiet time visualizing how smoothly your wedding day is going to run. Avoid drinking alcohol or taking sleeping medication—the last thing you want is to feel anything but your best on your wedding day!
