This issue is our “Vintage” Issue so it was befitting to select
Cannes, France for our Honeymoon destination! Located in
the French Riviera, Cannes is considered to be one of the most
captivating social hubs of Europe. When those in the glamour
and/or entertainment industry hear the word vintage they think
of old Hollywood glam. Cannes, a beautiful city best known for
the Cannes Film Festival, is certainly a destination that exemplifies
luxe and glamour.
This quaint locale is renowned for the plethora of designer
shops such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, Chanel, and Gucci that
line the world famous Promenade de la Croisette. It truly is
a shopper’s paradise! From the Rolls-Royce dealership to the
haute-couture boutiques; it is hard to fathom that this enchanted
city was one a small fishing village! The Promenade de la
Croisette extends along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea,
boasting with mobile cafes, yachts, restaurants and perhaps a
celebrity or two on holiday or in town for the festival.
Once
you have had your fill of shopping and people watching, head
on over to the Carlton Casino Club which is also located in the
same area. The Carlton Casino Club, has been characterized
by some patrons as having a “James Bond feel” as jackets are
required for men to enter.
Once you have had your fill of the glamorous life you can explore
the rest of what Cannes has to offer. For decades Cannes
has maintained a sense of exclusivity while still being suitable
to all budgets. One beautiful attraction is the Jardin Alexandre
III. It is a magnificent park overflowing with huge blossums at
every turn. How romantic! For true nature lovers, be sure to
visit the surrounding islands of Saint Margarite or Lerins where
you will be able to trek through lush forest of Allepo Pine and
eucalyptus! Be sure to visit the local shops there that specialize
in organic products. They’ll make awesome ‘Thank you’ gifts
or serve as a reminder upon use to take a deep breath every
once and a while and remember your special trip alone with
your sweetheart.
As you take this time to celebrate your love, be sure to enjoy
a glass of vintage produced at a monastery located in the heart
of Lerins Island. Wine lovers will be pleased to know that a
recent planting of Pinot Noir has produced a very aberrant vintage.
Due to it’s limited production it is sold on reservations.
As a visitor you’ll have an opportunity to sample it! Between
the shopping, people watching, and enjoying the great outdoors,
you’re sure to work up an appetite! Sumptious smells and tastes
greet you at every turn. While we can not account for everyones
unique pallate and tastes, we will say that if you travel to Rue
Saint Antoine you’ll be satiated because there are over 30 restaurants
to choose from. Decisions decesions!!
Boasting with breathtaking views, delicious cuisine, and a
nightlife that would give Las Vegas a run for it’s money. This
magnificent city certainly lives up to it’s motto, “Life is a Festival”!
Are you packed yet?
